Staying at LEGOLAND Hotel Florida is a bit like falling into a tub of LEGO. It’s brightly coloured, garishly decorated, noisy in the foyer and restaurant, with kids’ entertainment at every turn. But the theming is incredibly well done. The level of detail is extraordinary. The guest rooms are ridiculously cool, the lifts are super fun, and I’m a little bit obsessed by the carpet!

While the Disney and Universal theme parks and hotels are definitely for adults as well as kids, LEGOLAND is completely devoted to entertaining kids. Their target market is kids 2-12 years old.
Your kids will be in heaven and your popularity will be soaring! I booked it as a special treat for the kids, especially Hamish after our princess-intensive Disney World visit. And it exceeded all of our expectations!

LEGOLAND Florida Hotel review
The LEGOLAND Hotel and theme park are located about 45 min south of the Orlando theme parks like Disney and Universal.
While it’s certainly do-able to visit the theme park from Orlando, we decided to go for the full immersive experience. And, surprisingly I think the kids enjoyed the hotel at least as much as the theme park!
In addition to the decor, it is quite a unique hotel, because everyone is here to visit the theme park, so the hotel is completely deserted during the day, and madly busy in the evening. It is quite an intense experience, but, since you generally only stay for a couple of nights, it is really fun!

Convenience
The LEGOLAND Hotel is right next door to the theme park. It will take you all of 3 min to walk from the hotel foyer to the entry turnstile of the theme park. We were very happy to avoid the long drives to and from Orlando at each end of the day. So it definitely wins on convenience!
Early LEGOLAND entry
We found all the Orlando theme parks were surprisingly quiet for the first couple of hours of opening, but LEGOLAND was extremely quiet! Eerily so in fact! I guess it’s because of the long drive that people are doing to get here. It was very crowded in the afternoon with really long queues for rides, so being able to enter half an hour early and get as much done as you can before it gets hot and crowded is a huge benefit.
LEGO Masterbuilders classes
Free classes are available for kids throughout the evenings. Alannah wasn’t super keen initially, but they both had a ball and loved the toucan that they were taught to make and could keep.

LEGOLAND Hotel pool
The LEGOLAND theme park has a water park attached to it, but when we were there it was only open on the weekends when the main park is at its busiest. Instead, we visited the park on a weekday when the crowds are smaller, and had plenty of fun in the hotel pool. The floating LEGO bricks are great entertainment. There’s even lifeguards on duty!

Disco Lifts
When the lift doors close, the disco begins! I’m talking Dancing Queen, Staying Alive-type classics played loud with disco ball and flashing lights. We were pretty sedate when sharing a lift, but when we got one to ourselves we really let loose!

Entertainment
You’re sure to bump into some LEGO characters around the hotel, both boys like Adventurer below, as well as girls like LEGO Friends.
There is a large play castle in the foyer, which plays host to the evening entertainment. There are LEGO building competitions and party games like Simon Says run by a LEGO character or dancing led by a LEGO Friend. Apart from the noise level, it is a great way for the kids to tire themselves out after dinner while you take your time over dessert in the restaurant.

Endless LEGO
There’s a seemingly bottomless pit of Lego in the foyer, the floating LEGO in the pool, all the decorations that are made of LEGO, and even a display stand for guests to leave their new constructions. Just don’t walk around in bare feet! Ouch!

Even the foyer bathrooms have been LEGO-ed. Plus they talk to you when you enter, “Your hair is looking awesome today!”
LEGOLAND Hotel Kingdom room
It is when you go up to the Guest Room floors that you start to see the extraordinary level of theming.
Firstly, every guest room is themed. There is a floor of Pirate rooms, a floor of Adventurer rooms, a floor of Kingdom rooms and a handful of large LEGO Friends suites. The hallways, lift doors, walls, EVERYTHING is decorated to fit the theme.
We had a Kingdom room. All rooms have a very family-friendly layout, with a king bed for the parents …

… and bunk beds for the kids. There’s a trundle bed too, so 3 kids fit easily. As you can see, there are pictures woven into the carpet, trompe l’oeil-style paintings on the walls and their own tv.

The two sleeping areas are separated by the bathroom. (The kids’ area is on my right in the photo below.)
I was quite fascinated by the carpet. In particular the extreme amount of planning that must have gone into having it made so that the decorations end up in exactly the right spot.
We loved the stone flag floor, the rug under our bed, the gold coins, the tankard of coffee spilt on the floor (“Oh Mum you’ve spilled your coffee again!”), and all the new details you would notice each time you walked over it.
The bathroom was in on the action too. Doesn’t everyone hang up their crown while they have a shower?
And there’s a code that the kids have to figure out that will unlock this safe filled with lots of LEGO-y goodness!
