The Atura Albury is a groovy family-friendly hotel. It brings a big-city, stylish vibe to Albury in country NSW, in a riot of colour, cool decor and quirky wallpaper. And it is FABULOUS!

Atura Albury
The kids and I recently did the 10 hour Sydney-Melbourne drive without hubster, so to break up the trip (and ensure I didn’t fall asleep at the wheel!) we stayed a night at Atura Albury. Given my love of QT Sydney and QT Gold Coast, this stylish hotel looked like it had a bit of flair to set it apart.
From the moment we walked in the door it felt welcoming and brimming with personality. No beige blah to be seen anywhere!
And, like the QTs, the stylish interiors are particularly impressive given they have renovated an existing hotel, thus retaining the personality and uniqueness of the original building. Just bringing it into this century.

Be greeted by a rainbow of bicycles and super lovely staff …

And a lounge area to treat as your home away from home. A comprehensive range of kid-friendly games, a pool table with a difference and some very comfy couches could tempt you not to leave the building at all!

Our room
Our room suited us perfectly! It was all set up exactly how I requested it, so that the three of us could have a bed each. (That’s the sofa bed next to the window.) But they do have a variety of room styles to accommodate families.
And free wifi!

A bathroom that is both practical and beautiful, complete with a shower that we could all fit in and the coolest wallpaper ever!

Is this not divine? It looks almost three-dimensional when seen in person. So cool.

And a coffee pod machine! Yippee! I’m a complete Nespresso addict, so being able to make a good coffee as soon as I get out of bed is winning in my book.

As you can see out our window, you’re right in the middle of town, so can leave the car in the car park and go for a wander.

Pool
It was about 40° when we arrived, so it was absolutely delicious to be able to change straight into our bathers and head here. I must get myself one of these flamingos for home. It was so relaxing flopped across one, drifting around the pool.

The kids were obviously in heaven. There’s not much they like more than a pool.

Trying to get them out is the hard part!

Restaurant
The fab decor continues in the restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

Pastry anyone? Note kids getting right into it in the background. In their world a buffet breakfast is the next best thing to a pool.

An excellent selection of cooked items, beautifully presented in Le Creuset. Well a plain white plate would look a bit boring here, don’t you think?

Foyer
I really didn’t expect so much inner-city grooviness in the country. But now I’ll be looking for an excuse to go back!

How awesome is that pool table? Love that image. And a great opportunity to put off departing by teaching the kids how to play. I call that a life skill.

They would have played every game if I let them! But we had fun with Snakes & Ladders. Such a classic.

This is a hotel that manages to have style and personality, while also making families feel right at home. The kids adored it and probably would have been thrilled had we stayed for a week and returned to Sydney, rather than continuing to Melbourne. But then they would have missed all the best bits of Melbourne!
It is so much more than somewhere to lay your head for the night, and we really appreciated that. It meant we started the next stage of our journey refreshed and energised, with smiles on our faces. It felt like our holiday had already begun and that’s how you make travelling with kids fun.
