How many people are you buying for this Christmas? It’s a bit overwhelming isn’t it. I’ve got 12 I think (or have I forgotten someone?), and I’m sure that’s not a lot in the scheme of things.
But I’m not great at choosing gifts. Possibly because I over-think it and talk myself out of any ideas, or possibly because everyone seems to have everything that they want, or possibly because I have 5 tween/teen-aged boys to buy for. Help!

Myer Giftorium
Myer’s Giftorium opened in Sydney on Saturday (Melbourne’s and Brisbane’s are already open) and I’m thinking this might be the answer. It’s not just toys, there’s gifts for every age and many interests, so my plan is to set aside a couple of hours and challenge myself to get all my gifts here in the one place. They’ve really put together quite an extraordinary selection, so I think it can be done.

We were there for the opening, but Myer Ambassador, Kris Smith, was there too and I lost my focus. Besides, I really need to go back without the kids so I can get their gifts too.
Gifts for the whole family
The Giftorium’s got pretty much every toy under the sun –

A super cool Star Wars display –

And more Lego than you can poke a stick at! We watched the original Star Wars movie with the kids on the weekend, so they were very excited to see their favourite, R2-D2.

And there’s oodles of decorations for any theme you might be going for this year.

But what really impressed me was the range of gift ideas they had. There were things I would expect in my local boutique toy shop, but not in a big department store.
I’m loving this travel journal, which looks ideal for kids up to teens.

And once you have the kids sorted, move onto the tech/pet/foodie/fashion/his/her/hipster/make-up/fitness/homewares area for the rest of the family. They have all of these types of gifts available within the Giftorium precinct.
For any help you might need, Myer has added a team of Gifticians, who are full of gift suggestions. You can even make an appointment to meet with a Giftician and they will work through your list with you. I say just follow them around with your credit card in hand. Your Christmas shopping will be done in no time!
Personalised gifts
There are several options within the Giftorium for a personalised gift.
For the ultimate Kris Kringle gift – a personalised Nutella jar!
Or design your own Peanuts or Mister Men/Little Miss artwork!
I think either one would go down a treat.
I’m dreaming of eating Nutella crepes by the Seine, but recreating them at home will have to do for now.
And free gift wrapping to better enable you to hide the evidence!

Oh and did I mention Kris Smith was there? The only thing I know about him is that he used to date/be married to Dannii Minogue, who was always my favourite on Young Talent Time, so I wasn’t falling over myself to meet him. But can I quietly tell you that I’m a convert. He was super dooper lovely.
Uh, sorry, got distracted. Where was I? Oh yes, Giftorium, Christmas, shopping …
Fun for kids
If you have a handy helper to watch the kids while you shop, then there is heaps to keep them happy.
I would have said Miss 8 was too big for the train and after all the rides they went on in the U.S. I thought they might turn up their noses, but they loved it! The staff were really into it, high fiving them as they went past and handing out souvenir golden tickets. There’s a little playground there too for the smaller kids.
Santa has arrived and he brought an adorable sleeping, breathing reindeer with him, so tick off those Santa pics while you’re there.
They’re even doing “magic shots”, which we had a few of at Disney World, so the kids were on board. It comes out cute don’t you think?
There’s a couple of these giant packaging boxes for a bit of clowning around. Story-telling and face-painting too.

On weekends there’s even a local dance school rocking it out!

And if all else fails, tell them they can spend $20. Oh my goodness, the anguished decision making! This will keep them busy for a good half an hour!

There are Christmas Giftoriums in every Myer store, but the full range of services is available in the city stores.
Thank you to Myer and Kids Business for inviting us to this special opening event.
