Hi there and welcome!
I’m Kirralee Baker and Escape With Kids is an Australian blog for mamas who loved travelling before kids and are figuring out how to still enjoy travel with kids in tow. But not only do we want to have fun on holiday, we want to look great too.
The Northern Beaches area of Sydney is home now, although I’ve spent most of my life in Melbourne. Holidays for us usually include hubster, myself and our two kids, Alannah, aged 7, and Hamish, aged 5. On the odd occasion we manage to escape without kids on an overnight date night or even overseas for a week or two.
Before kids we did a huge amount of travel for which I am so grateful. Those memories keep me going some days! Back then our big trips included regular and extended trips to Europe and the US, and a hopefully-not-only-once-in-a-lifetime expedition to Antarctica.
The kids have stayed pretty close to Australia so far, tracking down the best bits of Melbourne and staying in gorgeous resorts like Radisson Blu Resort Fiji. However, we decided that this is the year of the Disney Extravaganza after we discovered the best age to go to Disneyland.
I love clothes and it’s important to me to look great every day, even when I’m on holidays. I am particularly interested in items that look stylish, travel well and are practical for keeping up with the kids! Some of my most popular articles are –
- What to pack – The t-shirt
- 5 ways to wear compression socks on long-haul flights
- Monochrome – Add style and versatility to your travel wardrobe
- Everyday Style on the school holidays
- What to pack for the Easter long weekend – the Sydney edition and the Melbourne edition
But when you can’t get away, there’s always the fun of adding a travel flavour to your home. Perhaps put the world on your wall with a travel poster.
I love reading about other families’ travel adventures too and like to compile a list of the best from time to time – check out 9 family-tested summer holiday destinations and 13 awesome school holiday destinations.
Pop me an email at [email protected] to tell me about your holiday, share some info or ask a destination or style question. I would love to hear from you.

And thanks for coming. It’s so lovely to have a fellow traveller to chat to.
