When you need an escape from the city hustle and bustle, head to the peace and quiet of Gerroa on the NSW South Coast. Gerroa with kids is the perfect family weekend away.
As the main road meanders its way south from Kiama, through Berry and Nowra to beautiful Jervis Bay, Seven Mile Beach Gerroa is tucked well away from the passing weekend crowds.

At just over two hours south of Sydney, the seaside village of Gerroa NSW is close enough for a day trip. But take a real break from the city hustle and bustle and stay for a night or two.
There’s plenty to do in Gerroa with kids. The wide, flat expanse of sand at the northern tip of Seven Mile Beach NSW is the perfect location for kid-friendly fun, both in and out of the crystal clear water.
Rent a classic family holiday house across the road from the beach or stay at the activity-packed Discovery Park Gerroa nearby. This sleepy little seaside village will seduce you with its peaceful beauty.
We escaped the pre-Christmas craziness for a couple of nights in this beautiful spot and loved its secluded feel. While we rocked up to the beach weighed down with all the usual paraphernalia, at least we could park right next to the sand and, once there, could happily stay for hours. Folding chairs, towels, boogie boards and even a kite we hadn’t yet got out of the package. They were all well used and ensured a suitably exhausting day at the beach.

Explore Seven Mile Beach Gerroa NSW
You’ll find plenty of wide open spaces to explore here. Peer into rockpools, watch the surfers or bury your brother in the sand. Fill up on fresh air and freedom.

Boogie boarding for beginners
Our kids had their first go at boogie boarding here. The shallow water seems to go on forever, so the little waves were perfect for getting the hang of it.

Kite-flying
Whether you’re watching the experts or giving it a go yourself, flying a kite is timeless fun.

Beach cricket
Seven Mile Beach Gerroa is the point where the Crooked River meets the sea. So, as the waves end and the river begins, the sand goes on and on. Bring the cricket bat and you’ll have plenty of space for a hit.

Check out the flying dog as he races to catch the cricket ball!
